RE: Junction, Texas Campground

We always stay there after a long trip to the West coast, even though we're close enough to go into San Antonio we want one more night on the road.

RE: Highway #83

We made the trip from Texas to South Dakota on US83. Loved it, very little traffic and it is a wide 2 lane most of the way, only minor problem is the lack of road side rest areas (pull outs) in Nebraska.

RE: Lost a roof vent cover and I have a ??

If you still have the frame (hardware) from the missing cover you can remove the frame from the new cover, drill the necessary mounting holes plug the old ones and your in business. I had to do this when everything on the roof of my trailer was destroyed in a hail storm.

Have you ever heard of this?

My trailer has been in storage for about 4 months, I took it out today to do the usual PM on it and when I rolled out the awning I notice a bulge about 2 feet long and 6 or 7 inches wide. The bulge was water between the layers of vinyl, I made a pin hole to let it drain and the taped it closed. I been RVing since 1970 and this is the first time I ever found water not on the awning but in the awning.

RE: I-10 San Antonio to Fort Stockton

Fill up at the Flying J in San Antonio and then again in Junction (about 110 miles) should be no problem getting on into Ft.Stockton.

RE: Highway 3 from Great Falls, MT to Billings, MT

When I was in Great Falls in the Air Force we took 87 to Moore and the down to Harlowton, 12 to Roundup and then 87 again to Billings, all good roads. The main reason for this route was to stop at a number of the Missile Sites.

RE: Camping along Hwy 20 east of Burns, OR

The only thing I remember East of Burns is in Vail, a small park with nothing special. If you want to go off the hiway the Malheur Refuge and or Frenchglen at the foot of the Steen Mountains are nice.

RE: Best route from Bend to Salem, OR-20 or OR-22?

My wife's family is from Salem and at one time we lived in Albany just off US20. I don't know what kind of RV you have, but if it is over 50ft long (Pick-up and 30 something 5th Wheel) you would not live US20.

RE: Tricare Terms Confusion - Military Retirees

Your Primary Care Manager will not have the answer to your question. Go to any military installation with a clinic or hospital and talk to the Tricare representative. We have Tricare for Life, so far no problem traveling between regions except with Medicare, sometimes they wont kick in their 80 percent for other than emergency care if you don't have a referral from your PCM.

RE: pre 6.0 psd

I have a 96 7.3 PSD I bought new in June 96, truck now has 280,000 miles. Problems have been, Torque Converter, Water Pump, Alternator, and a High Pressure Fuel Pump with 2 fuel leaks shortly after running ULSD. The 7.3 PSD will write checks that the frame can't cash.

RE: what if I don't fit

Happened to us at a KOA in South Dakota a couple of years ago.The place had the typical teen agers working for the Summer. Kid tried to put me in two different spaces that didn't have enough room on the access road to make the turn into the space. After the typical teenager snorting and eye rolling he directed me to a space that would have taken the Starship Enterprise with room left over.

RE: North Rim GC camping

Though it's not in the campground itself, the permanent sites for employees have to use the same roads as everyone else. 3 years ago my nephew and his wife were working for the park concessions contractor, they had their 36 ft 5th wheel set up back in the woods.

RE: Has anyone stayed in Albany,Baird, Clyde, TX?

Why not try Ft.Griffin State Historical Site(was state park until the 1st of the year). It's about 15 miles north of Albany, nice campground that is very underused and part of the official Texas Longhorn herd is kept there.

RE: Texas Travel

Yes you can travel as fast as the truckers unless you get stopped by someone that doesn't know the difference between an RV and a mobile/manufactured home. If your pulling a mobile home the speed limit is 55.
